While people are raging about the flush, which I suspect will be a marginal item that is seldom used...

Is anyone else really concerned about the gameplay implications of artillery+airstrike being called onto a mech at will? Particularly if an entire team is doing it?

Seems that a team stocked on these would be able to call down instant death onto any mech of their choosing - particularly if you can force it into hiding with LRM or LR direct fire barrages.

I hope that it'll be tied to the command console - if not done properly this could be wide open to abuse. Hopefully they'll post more details on this.

if everyone used the C-bill versions there would be a possibility to use 32 artillery and 32 airstrikes during the match.

Does not want.

I doubt either will be powerful enough to kill any mech in a single hit, and both will probably be expensive as hell...

So do I. But if 8 mechs are using them on a mech at once? And they're equipped with 3-4 tier three arty or air strikes?

These make sense as a command chair once per match callable skill. As an anyone can use consumable this could be game-breaking.

In the beginning they said it would be available based on a tree system, not in a consumable. I wonder whatever happened to the command tree idea.

I'd like to see it tied to the Command Console and/or only targeting mechs tagged with NARC.

Only you have an entire team of D-DCs, -3Ls and YLW...

....they are the only mechs that can load four modues.

I'd rather see them just give us Arrow IVs as a part of the equipment, not just give us a CoD instakill button.

An entire team of Raven 3-L's with x4 artillery/air strike and ECM.

Fun.

I imagine that Air Strikes and Artillery will be limited to a single co-ordinate grid, say D6. You likely won't hit more than two mechs or so.

Wild speculation, of course.

The whole idea got scrapped. I wouldn't be surprised if the original Mech tree idea came into the game with each skill being a consumable. Charging, Magnometer vision, 4x zoom and other stupid ideas to milk money from the fanbase.

We can only speculate until we see them in action..
But perhaps they'll limit to amount of strikes a team can use total in a match? Perhaps there's a big spread on the munitions (but with high damage potential if you hit), a delay between airstrike is called and it actually hits, huge risk of friendly fire (making airstriking a big brawl stupid) etc.

I wonder if the airstrike will be loaded with mech weapons to fire or just something special for it. I don't play TT but played a bit of MW:LL. Aren't the planes loaded with the same stuff? SRMs, Medium lasers?

Not just the command console but the Dual Cockpit. So not only is there a cash component but a "physical" one also. One that calls for us to make a in game decision. Do I give up 3 tons to be able to call in strikes?

I tend to agree with your speculation.
The Air Strikes and Artillery will most likely target a specific grid-coordinate, not a specific 'Mech.
And as others have suggested, Betty will probably give you a fair warning when the bombs are about to drop - so you'll probably have a chance to get out of harms way.

However, some people enjoy ignoring Betty (Incoming Missiles, Base Under Attack...), so I'm sure a lot of people will fall to these new attacks.
